Police and customs officers searched commercial premises on Leipzig’s Eisenbahnstraße on 16 September 2026, seizing a wide range of narcotics and several weapons, according to Saxon police reporting.
The joint operation – involving Leipzig’s criminal police, Saxony’s riot police and customs officers – recovered more than 500 grams of heroin, over 400 grams of methamphetamine, and smaller quantities of cocaine, hashish and marijuana, along with prescription medication, several firearms, pepper spray, knives, an electric stun device and two truncheons. Officers also found roughly 80 kilograms of untaxed shisha tobacco and 12,000 untaxed cigarettes, and seized close to €2,000 in cash.
Eighteen people were checked during the operation and six faced further proceedings over weapons offences, residency status or minor drug offences. A 45-year-old man was briefly detained but released the next morning after prosecutors determined the threshold for a formal arrest warrant had not been met. The searches were carried out under multiple warrants issued by the Leipzig district court, as part of an investigation into suspected drug trafficking and cannabis distribution from commercial units on the street.
